4 Americans Killed And 16 Wounded In Deadly Suicide Bombing Inside U.S. Air Base In Afghanistan

One day after Veterans Day, two American soldiers and two U.S. contractors were killed in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. The four Americans were murdered inside Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Saturday.

A suicide attacker was a man who worked on the base as a laborer. He blew himself up near a dining facility inside the base killing the four Americans as well as injuring 16 other U.S. servicemembers. The blast was said to be “powerful” and reverberated across the area.

“The attacker was one of the Afghan laborers working there,” said Waheed Sediqi, spokesman for the governor of Parwan province where Bagram is located.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the terrorist group, said the attack on the base north of the capital Kabul had been planned for four months.

The attack was a major security breach for one of the most heavily guarded military installations in Afghanistan and NATO’s largest base in the country.

Rest in peace and thank you for your service.
