A truck has plowed into a Christmas market in western Berlin killing at least nine people and injuring over 50. The truck jumped the sidewalk and drove into the crowd. The incident happened at Breitscheidplatz, one of Berlin’s largest Christmas markets. It is also in close proximity to Berlin’s key shopping mile called Kurfuerstendamm and the Memorial Church, a famous tourist site.
Witnesses say the truck was traveling at least 40 mph, prompting some to suspect that it was an attack and not an accident.
