The cameraman should’ve never gotten himself involved in this ‘Eel vs. Octopus’ battle royalé but I suppose it was always destined to be a three-way. This footage was shot on the picturesque coral reefs of Hawaii when a group of snorkelers happened upon this underwater battle, and they stopped to witness what is probably a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Mid-way through the brouhaha the person filming got too close and the moray eel turned tail and attacked.
As noted on Sploid, it’s not really clear who actually won this fight, the octopus, eel, or human.
If I had to break it down, I’d say that the human was definitely a loser because they hauled ass out of there after being attacked by the bloodied eel. The octopus escaped with its life, only losing a tentacle (which it can regrow with ease), but that tentacle’s also now blocking the moray eel’s field of vision which could potentially hinder the eel’s ability to hunt and eat in the coming days.
All in all, I’d say that the eel emerged victorious because I don’t really spot too much damage, unless I’m seeing this all wrong and that shit having off the eel’s face isn’t a tentacle and it’s actually ripped up skin, and in that case I’d name the octopus as the winner with the human coming in second.
