Final Facebook Message By Marine Killed By Drunk Driver Is Chilling, Yet Inspiring

The inspiring and powerful last words by a Marine have gone viral after his tragic and untimely death from a drunk driver.

Matthew DeRemer, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, died in Largo, Florida on New Year’s Eve.

DeRemer’s motorcycle was plowed into by drunk driver Steven Lee Clarke. Clarke, 59, was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI manslaughter and failure to yield right-of-way. He was released on bail the next day, according to court records.

Matthew died from the crash. He was only 31-years-old.

In his final Facebook post, the decorated former Marine corporal and Iraq war veteran reflected on the highs and lows of the past year. There was also the chilling proclamation, “I really don’t know where I’ll end up tonight but I do know where I windup is where I’m meant to be.”

Days later, Matthew’s last Facebook status has gone viral. The compelling and haunting last words posted only hours before his death has accumulated more than 36,000 Likes and has been shared over 12,000 times.

Rest in peace Matthew, wherever you are meant to be.
