Genius Posts Selfie with Submachine Gun to Facebook, Is Nabbed in Bank Robbery

Before Jules Bahler was arrested last week for robbing three Michigan banks over an eight-day period, he posted a selfie to Facebook. The selfie showed Bahler brandishing a sub-machine gun and wearing clothes that matched those used in bank robberies. It may go down as the single dumbest selfie of all time.

From the Smoking Gun:

The photo, seen above, was uploaded to Bahler’s Facebook page on March 5, before the Chemical Bank robbery. Bahler, a Brooklyn native who uses the online handle “King Romeo,” captioned the image, “Bought my first house And chopper today..lifes great.” Upon spotting the image, a friend of Bahler’s cautioned him, “U tripping brotha I wouldn’t show that shit off like that cops be watching this shit brotha.”

FBI agents were pointed to the photo, and on Friday, investigators conducted a traffic stop on Bahler after watching him depart his home. They found the sub-machine gun in a duffle bag at his feet, and in a subsequent interview he confessed to all three crimes.

Bahler was named in a two-count felony complaint charging him with bank robbery and carrying a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is locked up in advance of a detention hearing scheduled for tomorrow afternoon in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

Bahler only lasted one month on Facebook, having joined in February. He had 206 friends and eight grand in robbery takings when he was arrested.
