In 1984, Ronald Reagan declared July “National Ice Cream Month” (presumably after the Ice Cream Lobby donated tens of thousands of dollars to his re-election campaign). Since then, Americans have celebrated by doing what they would have done anyway: eating ice cream, because July is the hottest month of the year and ice cream— as you probably know— is cold.
