‘John Wick’ Director Says They Are Very Interested In Making A Prequel TV Series

The premiere of John Wick: Chapter 2 is THIS Friday! If that wasn’t stupendous enough, there is more promising John Wick news. The John Wick director says that a TV series about everyone’s favorite Russian mobster assassin could happen.

Director Chad Stahelski said that a John Wick prequel is in the works and that Lionsgate wants to turn it into a TV series.

“Well, we’re not doing a prequel [with Chapter 2]. We wanted to, it just didn’t fit quite where we’re at….We basically almost have a prequel written, but we’d save that for other aspects of the property. Lionsgate is very interested in doing a John Wick TV show, and that seems very appealing to us, to give those creative ideas to that entity, because I think in TV you could really expand on what that is, and greater than we could in just a two-hour film. We’d like to wrap-up the story we’re telling now and maybe save all our prequel ideas and impossible task ideas for that medium.”

Hopefully, they are smart about this and don’t just take the highest bidder. With a series that would be extremely violent, they should take their franchise to a place where they will have more liberties to be as graphic as they want to be (Say Netflix or HBO) as opposed to going on CBS and having the show heavily censored.
