Oh, Cool, Here’s The Governor Of Kentucky Arguing For Armed Insurrection If Hillary Clinton Wins

When you look at most civil wars throughout history, it’s rare that they are resolved as quickly and as neatly as ours was. Take a look at Syria, which shows no signs of abatement five years in. The Rwandan Civil War only lasted three years, but it precipitated one of the worst massacres in human history. The wars in Yugoslavia lasted a whole decade and finished with the creation of seven autonomous nations.

One could argue America’s resolution was just as messy, what with the Southern states refusal to accept the terms of Reconstruction followed by the implementation of Jim Crow laws that persisted into the 1960s, but at least we didn’t have another war.

Some people are gunning for one, though.

When Lincoln won the 1860 presidential election, seven states formed the Confederacy before he was even inaugurated.

That could never happen aga–

At the conservative Christian conference known as the Voter Values Summit, the governor of Kentucky, Matt Bevin, spoke about what would happen if Hillary Clinton were elected. It was not necessarily the end of the world, he said, as some claim.

No, but it would require the blood of patriots and tyrants to be spilled again.

“I do think it would be possible [to endure a Hillary Clinton presidency], but at what price? The roots of the tree of liberty are watered by what? The blood. Of who? The tyrants, to be sure, but who else? The patriots. Whose blood will be shed? It may be that of those in this room… I have nine children. It breaks my heart to think that it might be their blood that is needed to redeem something, to reclaim something, that we through our apathy and our indifference have given away.”

Cool.

Kentucky, if you may recall, sided with the Union in the Civil War, so it’s great to see how much we’ve regressed.
