Relax, Guys: The Dude Fired for Buying Legal Weed in Washington Got His Job Back

Mike Boyer made news by becoming the first Washington resident to purchase legal marijuana. He then made bigger news by getting fired.

But the once not chill situation is now totes chill.

“TrueBlue got ahold of me and offered me my job back,” Mike told Newsweek. “I’ll accept it and we’ll see where it goes from there,” he said. “The reason they said they gave me my job back was because their policy says you cannot be under the influence at work, which I was not, and since I officially had the day off, what I did on my time was my time. And they gave me my job back, and even gave me a day’s worth of pay that I missed.”

See? It’s a feel-good story all around. My favorite part of the whole saga is still Boyer’s decision to wear a tie-dyed shirt for his big moment of marijuana fame. Homeboy looks like a guy straight out of Central Casting. If his apartment is brimming with Doritos and frozen pizzas, then I am unsure of everything in this crazy spinning world.

So what’s next for our weed-smoking hero?

Well, you’ll never believe this, but he’s hoping to parlay his experience into a passion project.

Blaze on, you crazy diamond. You’re an inspiration to us all.
