‘So, I Did A Thing…’ — Here’s How Insane Millennial Marriage Proposals Have Gotten In The Age Of Social Media

Poppin’ the question used to be so easy. In an age before smart phones, you just got on a knee, fumbled a velvet box with a diamond ring in it, and asked someone to spend the rest of their life with you. No photo ops in the heat of a life-changing moment,  no snaps or “I did a thing!” Instagram updates a few seconds later.

Stand-up comedia John Crist made fun of how insane millennial marriage proposals have gotten, from photographers hiding in bushes to the requisite 1000+ social media updates of every tiny details.

Really hope the next “So, I did a thing” proposal on my timeline is someone with the cojones to get married by a skydiving Elvis singing “hunk-a-hunk-of-burning-love” to a girl he just met in Vegas. I’d give a standing ovation to any millennial willing to pay homage to the 1992 Nicholas Cage classic Honeymoon In Vegas with their IRL relationship.

That’d be some good wedding proposal social media content I can get behind.
