Virtual Reality Theme Park Set To Open In Utah Will Be A Gamer’s Paradise — Footage Will Blow Your Mind Away

Like a phoenix rises from the ashes, so too will the arcade cometh again. A Utah-based company will be opening ‘The Void’, a completely ‘virtual reality theme park’ where bros can go and beat each other with foam noodles pretending they are swords. The technology at ‘The Void’ will allow VR gamers to experience a completely immersive world of their choosing, battling any number of horrific creatures designed to induce pants-wetting reactions from anyone willing to fork over the big bucks that’ll inevitably be required to enter this virtual-reality paradise.

All hyperbole aside, it’s incredible that the rise of virtual reality is heralding the return of the arcade. I know I’m no alone in that I attended hundreds of birthday parties throughout my childhood at arcades, and when it wasn’t a birthday party we were in the arcade killing time until the movies started (remember when movie theaters were all attached to malls?), and when we weren’t going to the movies we were just killing time in the arcade. Computers and consoles killed the arcade of yesteryear, but with ‘The Void‘ the 21st century iteration of the arcade will be reborn, and it’s going to be glorious.

If you’re interested in staying in the loop for updates on ‘The Void’ you can head on over to their website via that link above, but here’s a quick overview of their mission and technology (from their site):

We live in an age where endless entertainment options exist at our fingertips, yet we still have a real need to get out of the house and share new experiences with our friends and family. At THE VOID you will walk into new dimensions and experience worlds without limits. From fighting intergalactic wars on alien planets, to casting spells in the darkest of dungeons, THE VOID presents the Future of Entertainment. Only limited by imagination, our advanced Virtual-Reality technologies allow you to see, move, and feel our digital worlds in a completely immersive and realistic way. Our Virtual Entertainment Centers (VECs) are coming to major cities throughout North and South America, Asia, Europe and Australia. More than watching a movie or playing a game … in THE VOID you will live an adventure.

Aside from stunning natural beauty, there’s virtually NO reason to ever visit Utah…until now. Just imagine getting to pay someone to be scared by this thing:
