This Is What A $2 BILLION Cocaine Bust Looks Like

It is not going to be a very merry Christmas for some drug lords. I surmise that many cartel henchmen are getting the X-mas gift of being hung from a helicopter a la Omar Suarez this year after several mammoth drug busts. CNN reports that more than 26 tons of cocaine worth $2 billion have been seized by the US Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.

Approximately 100 suspected drug smugglers were apprehended at sea and turned over to federal authorities.

“We had a couple of scenarios where we used warning shots and disabling fire on the engines,” said Lieutenant Morgal Fowler. “We shot the engines out.”

The inter-agency operation intercepted 27 shipments over the course of 10 weeks, said Vice Adm. Karl Schultz, commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area.

The tons of nose sugar were unloaded in Port Everglades, Florida on Thursday.

Pallets containing the drugs, many wrapped in brightly colored plastic and some bearing labels such as “white sugar” or “pork,” covered the entire flight deck of the 418-foot Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton.

Schultz said the drugs came from several areas of South America, including “the Andean Ridge, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia.”

This song goes out to the city of Miami for their heartbreaking loss. I hope they can find the courage deep in their hearts to overcome these challenging times.
