A woman in Goldsboro, North Carolina who bought a used freezer at a yard sale for $30 got WAY more than she bargained for when she found out what was inside.
The freezer was filled with items that the seller said were for a Sunday school project and that a church would pick them up, according to WRAL.
However, after three weeks had gone by and no one had come by for the items, the buyer grew suspicious. So she decided to have a little peek and what she found was like something out of a nightmare – a frozen foot.
“I was just in shock,” she said. “I opened it up for a second time and my heart went into my throat. I ran out of the house and called 911.”
She said she was overwhelmed when she made the call.
“I was hysterical at first, but after a while, after I was able to comprehend what was going on, I was able to calm down,” she said.
The woman said she believes the remains belong to the mother of the person that sold her the freezer. She said she had not seen the elderly woman since the fall.
“The last time I saw the elderly woman I believe she had a stroke,” she said.
In a statement made by the Goldsboro Police they confirmed that there was indeed a dead woman in the freezer who appeared to have died of natural causes.
The buyer, who requested to remain anonymous, recalled her discussion with the 911 operator, “I have a serious problem. My neighbor sold me a deep freezer. I just opened it and there’s a body in there I think. I am freaking out.”
Seems like the most appropriate reaction, no?
The seller of the freezer is believed to have left town the day after the sale.
