North Carolina Man Catches Massive 112-Pound Catfish That Looks Like A Small Whale With A Beer Belly

Riahn Brewington was fishing the Cape Fear river last week at his favorite fishing spot when he hooked into the fish of a lifetime. He was fishing with light tackle, a rod + reel combo designed to reel in the average sized catfish and not one built for hauling in miniature submarines.

Upon first hooking into the gigantic fish he had no idea what he was in for, and after the fish spooled his reel (took out all of the line) the first time he thought he was going to lose it. It was when the fish spooled him a second time that Riahn Brewington knew he was going to be able to reel in the behemoth catfish.

Had he kept/measured the fish he would’ve found out that his 112-pound catfish was only 5 pounds shy of the North Carolina State Record, but like a good catch-and-release angler Riahn Brewington took a photograph and released the massive fish back into the river.

This near-record catfish was landed last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, and I can only imagine Riahn’s family calling bullshit on his fish story at the dinner table until he showed them the crazy photographs of his massive catfish.
