New 2024 NFL Mock Draft Would Change The Quarterback Fortunes Of Plenty Of Franchises

Even though we’re only two weeks into the NFL seasons, more than a few NFL fan bases have already given up on the season and are looking forward to 2024 NFL Mock Drafts. And, a new one from Sports Illustrated is giving some fan bases hope.

The 2024 NFL Mock Draft was by Sports Illustrated, and featured four quarterbacks in the top fourteen picks, including Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

It’s important to note that the Arizona Cardinals own two picks with a potential to be first overall, as they have the Texans pick from the Will Anderson Trade. And, The Chicago Bears have the same situation, as they also

The draft order was determined by Super Bowl odds. That is a puzzling way to do it, but it’s what they went with, nonetheless.

That means that USC quarterback Caleb Williams, widely considered to be the presumptive number one overall pick, is headed to Arizona, who takes Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the second pick. That’s a pretty interesting two picks, as they will have to dump Kyler Murray’s contract. But, it does help reboot the franchise, which seems stuck in the mud.

As for the Bears, they’re replacing Justin Fields with UNC quarterback Drake Maye. Unfortunately for Drake Maye, Chicago has shown a unique ability to bungle quarterback development time after time.

But, the headliner is Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders going in the top ten, as he’s off to Las Vegas with the sixth pick. First off, the son of Deion heading to Las Vegas would be great for content. It would truly be mayhem. But, I think this is way too high for Shedeur Sanders to be drafted. He’s off to a fantastic start, completing 78% of his passes for ten touchdowns against one interception. But, I don’t think he has the arm talent necessary to be taken this high. We will find out a lot more about how good he is the next two weeks, when the Buffaloes take on Oregon and USC.

The last quarterback taken in this mock draft is Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who is off to the Minnesota Vikings. Kirk Cousins is a free agent at the end of this year, and this would be a perfect landing spot for any quarterback. The team has a great offensive play caller as head coach in Kevin O’Connell, and superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson is supported by tight end TJ Hockensen and rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison to form a pretty formidable group of weapons. Out of the four quarterback landing spots, that is definitely the most quarterback friendly.

Needless to say, we will likely look back at this 2024 NFL Mock Draft and laugh come next April.
