1. Sergio Ramos and Pilar Rubio
It was during a TV program appearance that Spanish defender Sergio Ramos met reporter and broadcaster Pilar Rubio. After dating for a few years, their relationship blossomed, and in 2019, they got married. The couple now has a lovely family with four kids. Ramos married Rubio in his hometown of Seville, with a few of his current and past teammates. The guest list included David Beckham, Marcelo, and Jordi Alba, in attendance.
Ramos said 90Min, “It was a little abnormal, to dream three times about the same person. And it is true that I did know of her because she was a television presenter. We had no link or anything in common, but quite the opposite. The first message was to try to [break the ice] but I didn’t have many aspirations to get an answer back.
“But hey, with the passage of time, it seems that the strategy took effect, and from there we got to know each other to the extent that we do today.”
2. Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo
The romance between Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo started when they were young. Even before their relationship, Messi’s best friend’s cousin, Antonela, was said to be a huge fan of his. In their birthplace of Rosario, Argentina, the couple tied the knot in 2017 and are now proud parents to three kids.
Even though they knew each other, it was only in the early 2000s, Messi and Roccuzzo reconnected as adults. Although they kept their connection private at the time, Messi reportedly acknowledged being in a relationship in a 2009 appearance with a soccer news show. 3. David de Gea and Edurne García
While playing for Atletico Madrid, Spanish goalie David de Gea met singer and TV host Edurne García in Madrid. De Gea became attracted to Edurne, a supporter who went to the team’s games, and the two eventually got married in July 2023.
After leaving Manchester United last summer, the 33-year-old player resided with Spanish singer and actress Edurne. However, he moved to Italy and left her in Madrid. Despite the distance, Edurne maintains that the two are “more in love than ever” and that there are no problems between them.
4. Cesc Fàbregas and Daniella Semaan
At a restaurant in London, former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas met social media sensation and entrepreneur Daniella Semaan. The two became lovers in 2011 and were married in 2018 after Daniella asked him for an autograph for her son. Before marrying, Fabregas publicly proposed his love for his then-girlfriend in 2017, tweeting: “If I had to live my life over again next time I would make sure I find you sooner so I could love you for longer. Happy anniversary to us!”
