After weeks, if not months, of holding both the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets hostage, Aaron Rodgers finally made his intentions for the 2023 season known during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday afternoon.

In a lengthy monologue, Rodgers revealed that his intention is to play for the New York Jets next season and that the reason the deal hasn’t happened is due to ongoing negotiations between the Jets and the Packers.

With Rodgers seemingly intent on playing in New York, past comments he’s made about the city have begun to resurface, such as this report from last year, which saw former Packers signal-caller Deshone Kizer imply that Rodgers was a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, as he apparently asked the rookie during their first meeting if he “believed in 9/11”.

Deshone Kizer said, “He shut the door and the first thing that came out of Aaron Rodgers’ mouth was, ‘Do you believe in 9/11?'”

“He was like, ‘You should read up on that.’ And then we just start learning up about the playbook, and I was like, ‘Wow I don’t know where this is going.’ What it ended up being was a thought experiment where he wanted me to go back and look into some of the conspiracies around it.”[via TMZ Sports]

Given the intense media scrutiny that comes with playing in New York City, Rodgers better be prepared to answer questions about past comments like this from now on.

At this time, reports indicate that the Packers are not seeking two first-round picks in exchange for Rodgers, who will turn 40 years old this year. Despite his struggles during the 2022 season, which saw him through more interceptions than he had in a decade, Rodgers will undoubtedly be the best quarterback to ever play for the Jets and should, theoretically, turn them into a playoff contender.
