After watching the dream of Aaron Rodgers turn into a nightmare after just four snaps, New York Jets fans are now just days away from hopefully seeing the franchise quarterback they were promised when the Jets traded for the future Hall of Famer in April 2023.

While Aaron Rodgers toyed with NFL media and fans last season by pretending like there was a chance he’d suit up again before the end of 2023, that never came to pass, meaning Jets fans have still yet to see what the team looks like with the four-time NFL MVP as their starting signal-caller.

And according to The Athletic report Zack Rosenblatt, Jets fans should expect Rodgers to look like the player he did before arriving in New York as the 40-year-old reportedly “didn’t look hindered by his surgically repaired Achilles” during training camp.

“Rodgers didn’t look hindered by his surgically repaired Achilles. He was moving around fairly well and even making some plays on the move. The offense was sloppy at times, and this summer included Rodgers’ worst practice in a Jets uniform, when he completed 11 of 27 passes on Aug. 19,” reports Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

“There were some snapping issues with center Joe Tippmann and a few too many false starts early in camp. He and Wilson had a stretch in the middle of camp where they had to re-establish their chemistry. But once they did, Wilson dominated — he was the best player on the field throughout training camp, for my money — and Rodgers and the offense took off.”

Rodgers and the Jets will have the opportunity to prove they belong among the NFL’s elite as soon as their campaign begins as their season opener is a primetime nationally-televised Monday Night Football matchup on the road against the San Francisco 49ers, the defending NFC champions and one of the top two betting favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl.

Monday night’s game against the 49ers will be the first time that Rodgers — who did not play in any of the Jets’ preseason games — sees live NFL action since tearing his Achilles after just four snaps against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, September 11, 2023. Heading into the game, the home team 49ers are favored by 4.5 over Rodgers and the Jets, who are looking to end a 13-year-long playoff drought, which is the longest in all of American professional sports.
