Given that the New York Jets began the 2024/25 season with Super Bowl expectations, their Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was particularly disappointing as it showed just how far from that level they are.

Despite the humbling nature of the defeat, however, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t ready to panic, as he rolled out his famed “relax” shtick when speaking to the media after the loss.

10 years ago, Rodgers told Packers fans to “R-E-L-A-X” after the team began the season with a 1-2 record.

“I think we always have to stay relaxed. It’s a long season,” Rodgers told reporters on Wednesday.

“I think, at times, people think the season is like you’re out in the prairie or the desert and you’re moving around trying to find water, but it’s more like a nice, slow Bolero, where we’re just swaying with the music and reacting to whatever comes to us and through us, just trying to not get too high with the highs or too low with the lows.”

In the Jets 32-19 Week 1 Monday Night Football loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Rodgers completed 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The game marked the future Hall of Fame quarterback’s first game since tearing his Achilles just four snaps into his Jets career on September 11, 2023.

Rodgers and the rest of the New York Jets will look to get their 2024 season on track by securing their first win of the season when they head on the road to take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. The Titans, who lost to the Chicago Bears in Week 1, are projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. The Jets head into the matchup favored by 3.5 points.

The Jets certainly need to get a win on the board this weekend, especially after seeing how dominant the Buffalo Bills were in their 31-10 thrashing of the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. The Jets are also in the midst of a worst-in-American-sports 13-year-long playoff drought, making the idea of “relaxing” a bit difficult for the fanbase to grasp.
