Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday to clear the air surrounding all the Jets drama this season. Last week, the Athletic’s Dianna Russini dropped a bombshell report insinuating that there’s a rift between Rodgers and Jets owner Woody Johnson.
According to Russini, Rodgers wants to play next season but not for the Jets due to his strained relationship with Johnson.

“As for Rodgers, his relationship with the owner has been strained for months — that’s not a secret in the building or the locker room. At this point, after conversations with sources with the team and around the league, my understanding is that Rodgers still wants to play in 2025, just not for the New York Jets.”
While speaking to McAfee, Rodgers denied Russini’s report.
“I don’t talk to that person. There’s obviously people she talks with, but when it comes to me, my circle is really small. I’m not talking to people who are talking to people like that. At best it’s a 3rd game of telephone with me.”
Rodgers went on to say that he still hasn’t decided if he will play next season but his first option would be to return to the Jets if they want him back.
“I feel like I’ve been kind of year to year, & obviously last year getting hurt, my whole focus was trying to get back for the end of the season, & then getting back for this season. When you’re 40 going on 41, you know you’re obviously at the end of your career, so there’s a lot of things.”
“If it’s the Jets, they have to want me to be here, & a new staff, new GM, they all have to want me to be with the Jets, & then body wise I have to see how I’m feeling & if I want to sign up to go back to the grind & all that. I’m healthy now, so if I can stay healthy the rest of the year, & play the way I want to play, & everybody feels good about bringing me back, then there’s the decision there, & if not, there’s all the other options. At this point, I think I’m open to everything & attached to nothing, so that’s a good place to be.”

It’s hard to imagine that the team would bring Rodgers back next year after everything that has gone on this season.
