If you don’t know the name Adriana Leon, you may want to get to know it.
Leon is a star striker for the Canadian Women’s National Team that will attempt to win its first FIFA Women’s World Cup in the coming weeks.
At the club level, she plays for legendary English side Manchester United where she scored three goals in nine appearances this past season.
Leon became the first Canadian to ever sign for the club in August, and she spoke about how much that meant to her in an interview with team media.
“Yeah, I mean it’s incredible to even say that I’m the first Canadian. It feels a little bit surreal and just looking around here it’s crazy, and hopefully inspiring the younger generation in Canada and all over the world to want to grow up, play soccer – play football sorry! Pardon! [laughs],” she said. “I Haven’t gotten used to the lingo yet, it’s only been three years! And yeah, inspiring the younger generation to want to become a United player, and I hope that I’m making Canadians proud and hope to see more Canadians out in Manchester in the future.”
But she’s more than just a star on the field. The blonde bombshell has also built up quite the following on social media. Leon has over 180,000 followers on her Instagram page. And it’s easy to see why with one of her recent viral posts.
Leon posted a picture of herself in a black bikini just days prior to the start of the World Cup.
“Meditative state of mind. Spa day to close out the pre-camp,” the caption read.
Followers flooded to the post, leaving leaving 8,000 likes.
Canada’s begins its quests to win the World Cup at 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday night against Nigeria. The game can be viewed on FOX.
