Did You Catch Alex Ovechkin’s Amazing Goal Last Night? You Should

In his NHL career, Alex Ovechkin has scored some pretty amazing goals. There was his most iconic one, sliding on his back his rookie season against the Phoenix Coyotes. I’ll never forget his playoff goal against the Flyers (I saw it in person), dancing around and across the crease after forcing a turnover to win the game. There’s my personal favorite, his 63rd of the 2008 season, when Ovechkin was at his absolute, goal-scoring peak, rifling a shot top shelf while skating away from, and not even looking at, the net (watch this one). Who could forget his amazing pass to himself against the Canadiens?

So it’s hard to say which is my favorite. I just listed four without even thinking.

But this one, last night, against the Devils, is up there. Definitely top ten. Ovi takes the puck in his own zone, pushes the length of the ice, goes between his legs to deke a defender, then, as he’s falling down, lifts the puck with his backhand up and into the net.

Beautiful.
