The Texas State baseball program landed an upset win over No. 1 Texas A&M on Tuesday in midweek action. Bobcats pitcher Alex Valentin let the Aggies hear about it after the fact.

The lefty hit a Gladiator-style celebration after recording the final out. His response immediately went viral on social media.

Valentin picked up the win in the contest after throwing 4.2 innings of one-run ball. In that time, he allowed just two hits and a total of four baserunners while efficiently working his way through a vaunted Aggies lineup.

Texas A&M ranked third in the SEC with 136 home runs a year ago. That pop didn’t frighten the sophomore pitcher.

Valentin mowed down five Aggies while needing just 69 pitches to work through 17 batters. He kept his opponent off balance with a psychotic delivery from the mound.

Alex Valentin’s windup made online waves, but it was his final act that produced the most noise. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bobcats led 7-3.

Valentin closed the door on a comeback bid, forcing a flyout to left field to end the game. With victory secured, the pitcher taunted the Aggies dugout.

He then doubled down on that celebration on social media.

The win was Alex Valentin’s first of the season, which helped his team improve to 6-2 on the year. The Aggies, meanwhile, fell to 5-2 with a second straight loss.
