Folks, we have ourselves a golf fan conspiracy on our hands and it is a doozy.

Shane Ryan, the author of ‘Slaying The Tiger,’ is in Melbourne for the Presidents Cup and he just so happened to stumble into some very crazy information about fans, particularly the American fans.

A split section of International and American fans were surrounding the first tee, singing and chanting, but Ryan noticed the American fans were singing with an accent so he did some digging. It turns out there are ‘fans’ known as The Fanatics that are actually paid-for-hire.

Ryan breaks everything down in this epic thread on Twitter:

What in the actual hell is going on at the Presidents Cup? Not only did he dig up information about the paid-for-hire fans, but then he ran into a huge group of ‘American’ fans that didn’t speak English. If non-English speaking folks want to get decked out in American gear and cheer on the U.S. side that’s totally cool, but damn is this a weird situation.
