The Detroit Lions were one of the feel-good stories of the 2022 NFL season.

After a rough 1-6 start, the Lions — led by endearing head coach Dan Campbell — finished the season with an 8-2 record to ultimately finish above .500 on the season, which culminated with a satisfying season-ending win over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers that knocked them out of postseason contention.

Despite the undoubted upward momentum that the Lions had last season, the fact remains that they failed to qualify for the playoffs, which will surely be the team’s goal for this season. Star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, however, apparently has even bigger aspirations for the 2023 Detriot Lions.

During a recent interview with the Detroit Free Press, St. Brown said they’re aiming to be #1 in every statical category on offense.

“We had a pretty decent offense last year. Obviously, you want to be No. 1 in every category, so I think that’s what we’re striving for as an offense. Obviously, No. 1 in total yards per game, total scoring offense, we want to be No. 1 in all those categories. Not turning the ball over. I think we did a pretty good job of that last season, but you can always improve,” St. Brown said.

“So I think honestly, I think if you ask Ben, his goal would be to be No. 1 in all categories, and that’s my goal, too. I think that’s everyone’s goal on offense because we know we can do it. Whatever we got to do to be No. 1 in all those categories, that’s what we’re going to do.”

The Lions are certainly making the roster moves necessary to make a run at the playoffs, as they signed free agent safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson away from the NFC Champion Eagles, running back David Montgomery, and more.
