Let’s Look Back At The Time Andy Reid Inhaled A Burger While Hanging With Guy Fieri On ‘Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives’

Andy Reid would be the first person to admit he’s a sucker for a greasy meal, so it’s only natural that Guy Fieri asked the Chiefs head coach to join him when he headed to Kansas City for an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives that’s worth looking back at.

The man, myth, and legend who is Guy Fieri usually rolls solo when he hops into his iconic red Camaro in search of America’s greatest diners, drive-ins, and dives. However, he’s occasionally recruited some notable names to help him out, including Matthew McConaughey, Kid Rock, and Vanilla Ice.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives has also featured a handful of people who made a name for themselves in the NFL, including Joe Theismann and Jon Gruden. However, there’s arguably no one in that realm who was a better fit for the program than cheeseburger connoisseur (and Kansas City Chiefs head coach) Andy Reid.

Reid may be partial to burgers in Los Angeles (the city where he grew up), but he also knows a thing or two about the culinary scene in Kansas City, which he’s called home since being tapped to helm the Chiefs in 2013.

In 2019, Fieri and the Triple D crew rolled into K.C. for a trip that included a visit to Pigwich featuring a Very Special Guest in the form of Reid, who described the outpost inside City Market as “a butcher shop that’s also the greatest sandwich shop you’ve ever eaten at.”

I remember watching the episode when it originally aired, but it popped back up on my radar this week after the folks at Food Network uploaded Reid’s segment to YouTube.

The duo got the chance to watch Alex Pope assemble the “Big Pig” (a sandwich consisting of a deep-fried pork chop topped with a pulled pork patty smothered in three different kinds of cheese along with BBQ sauce and ranch) as well as the short-rib burger that gave Reid the chance to show off his interpretation of “The Hunch” (Fieir’s signature sandwich-eating move) while taking a very sizeable bite.

That right there is the mark of a true professional.
