Angel Reese had herself a day on Sunday during a win over the Connecticut Sun. The second-year forward recorded the first triple-double of her WNBA career.
She also made headlines for an on-court explosion after having her hair pulled by Bria Hartley. It gave her social media trolls one more reason to talk.
Reese has been criticized throughout her professional career for inconsistency shooting the basketball, which has led to stat padding accusations amid a historic run.
She became the fastest player to reach 500+ points and rebounds in WNBA history. She did so in just 38 games, six contests shy of previous record-holder Tina Charles.
That achievement, however, came with a major asterisk. A large portion of her boards came directly off of her own misses. Thus, the term “mebounds” was born.
Angel Reese addressed that label in a TikTok post on Sunday. She rejected the narrative while inadvertently admitting that the term got under her skin.

Reese says things like altered images of her face don’t bother her. “Mebounds” clearly did, as she felt the need to bring it into the conversation on social media.
The trolls got in her head. She gave them more ammunition on Sunday.

The forward was seen going up for a rebound during the second half of play. She was fouled by Hartley leading to a reaction. Video replay showed that Hartley pulled her hair from behind.

The response was justified. Still, her haters will use it as another chance to attack.
While frustrated in the moment, Reese didn’t let the yanked ponytail impact her game negatively. She was able to rack up 11 points, 11 assists, and 13 rebounds in a 78-66 victory.
