Kelsey Plum chirped at Angel Reese for checking Rickea Jackson during a WNBA scuffle between the Chicago Sky and the Los Angeles Sparks. Rebecca Allen was the first player to start talking her talk after Jackson hit her with a hard shoulder.
Let’s not all freak out like we did with the Caitlin Clark one. These kinds of things are great for ratings and fan interest until it gets to a ridiculous point in the narrative!
This latest WNBA incident came early in the game. Chicago was already down 10 to Los Angeles with just under five minutes left in the first quarter when things got chippy in a hurry. Allen and Jackson ultimately received double technicals and, to be fair to officials when we often are not, they were both at fault. I have no issue with the call. I was glad Plum and Reese also got away clean.
Rebecca Allen started the sequence with a missed layup. She and Rickea Jackson fought hard for the rebound. It was the latter who came down with the board — but as she came down, Jackson jerked backward. Her shoulder caught Allen in the chest. I could make an argument that the contact was after the whistle. Either way, Allen went after Jackson.
Angel Reese eventually stepped in to break things up as Jackson kept talking until she then got involved by extending an open hand to the chest! That’s when Kelsey Plum pointed at Reese and exchanged pleasantries with her back.

I can’t imagine the league will issue any fines or punishments. I could be wrong. Issue the double technical and move on, in my opinion. These kinds of things, like the Caitlin Clark incident, are good for the league.
They’re feisty and they’re fun. The best part of the WNBA might be the drama. They all secretly hate each other and that rules. Everything is wrestling, am I right?
