Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham is speaking out on why she decided to get into a fight to protect Caitlin Clark. Last week, Cunningham nearly got into a brawl with the Connecticut Sun after Jacy Sheldon whacked Clark in the eye.

Since then, Cunningham has been an overnight star after fans praised her defense of Clark.
On Saturday, Cunningham revealed why she decided it was time for her to go out of her way to protect Clark.
“I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a buildup for a couple of years now of them just not protecting the star player of the WNBA.”
“At the end of the day, I’m going to protect my teammates. That’s what I do.”
