Anthony Edwards has become a household name in the sports world this postseason. The Minnesota Timberwolves star looks like the next all-time great wing player in NBA history at 23 years old.

That’s drawn serious comparisons to Michael Jordan. Any time you seriously compare a player to Michael Jordan, there’s a certain level of skepticism and expectations that come with such a comparison.

Beyond those comparisons is a mostly tongue-in-cheek meme/rumor that Anthony Edwards is actually the son of Michael Jordan. While it’s not true, the resemblance is uncanny!

They definitely look and play alike! But, Anthony Edwards has actually said multiple times this postseason that he is not a fan of the comparisons, and who can blame him? Being compared to arguably the GOAT comes with a ton of pressure and sets a standard that seems nearly impossible to live up to. Think how great the career of LeBron James is. To many, he still doesn’t measure up with Michael Jordan.

But, if the Timberwolves somehow find a way to win Game 7 back in Denver, those comparisons are only going to heat up. At 23-years-old, Anthony Edwards would have led Minnesota as far as they’ve ever been. And, they would be solid favorites to make the NBA Finals against either the Thunder or Mavericks, depending on who wins that series.

at that point, Anthony Edwards is, alongside the San Antonio Spurs’ Victory Wembanyama, the young face of the league. If the T-Wolves won the title, likely against the Boston Celtics, he might be the undisputed face of the league very soon. Not even Michael Jordan was the face of the league at 23-years-old.

But, he’s got to win first, and that’s going to be quite the tall task.
