NFL teams are split on their feelings about Florida QB Anthony Richardson. While some have him rated as high as a first round pick, others have him graded as low as a fourth round choice.

According to an NFL evaluator said Richardson has the “best upside” of any quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft, but will require patience.

NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently said a number of NFL teams have Anthony Richardson as the 2nd-best QB in the draft, and that he doesn’t believe Richardson will be there after the middle of the 1st round.

Richardson is a deeply polarizing prospect, who has drawn comparisons to both Cam Newton and Justin Fields by NFL executives.  It is clear that he has the potential to be a special player, but his lack of experience and raw mechanics have many teams hesitant.

If a team decides to take a chance on Richardson, they are likely to be patient with his development, as it is unlikely he will be handed the starting job right away and might need to be “redshirted” for his rookie season.

This would prove to be a difficult decision for any team, which may have to choose between a sure bet and a high-upside prospect. Ultimately, the team that is willing to take a chance on Richardson may be rewarded with a special player.

Superstar Potential

While appearing on the Pat McAfee show, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky went as far as saying that Richardson has “Superstar potential.”

“Great dude, works his tail off. He’s super-smart.”
