Bill Self was ejected after receiving two technical fouls during a basketball game between Kansas and Arizona State. The head coach was then trolled by the Sun Devils as he exited to the locker room.
Self did not believe he was deserving of being tossed. He was critical of the officiating crew after the fact.
It was a frustrating night all around for the Jayhawks. Arizona State largely dominated the game from start to finish.
The Sun Devils started the contest on an 11-3 run. They’d grow that advantage to 20 by halftime before fending off a late comeback attempt.
Kansas pulled to within two points at the four-minute mark. Arizona State then ended the matchup on a 13-5 run.

The ejection came relatively early in the contest with six minutes still to play in the first half. A foul called on Darryn Peterson sparked a reaction. Officials responded with T’s.
Self didn’t take issue with the first technical. It was the second foul that had him fuming.
“That was a pretty temperamental crew,” he said in the postgame. “I wasn’t told anything. They threw me out before I even said anything…
“I came out of the (coach’s) box, and he gave me a T, which is fine… By no stretch did I do anything to deserve a second T.”
Doug Sirmons is the official that ejected Bill Self. The coach called him out by name in his postgame criticism.
Sirmons’ work schedule quickly became a topic of conversation on social media. Some blamed his short fuse on jetlag.
Doug Sirmons does not sleep.
The referee has officiated 15 games over the last 17 days. That includes a stretch of nine consecutive days dating back to February 23.
His trips have spanned coast to coast. He’s bounced from Texas to Illinois to Maryland to Arizona in a week’s time.

Officiating schedules are crazy. Ask Jeffrey Anderson, who travelled 10k miles in the month of January last college basketball season.
Was this the reason for Doug Sirmons’ quick trigger? Maybe. Maybe not. His schedule is demanding. The constant travel would weigh on some.
Self seems to have caught him on a bad day. As a result, the coach’s night was cut short.
