Olympic athletes are celebrating their departures from the Olympic Village in Paris. With the Summer Games officially coming to an end on Sunday, competitors have been posting reactions to their final moments in their temporary living arrangements.

It seems they’ve been counting down the days!

Conditions in the Olympic Village have been criticized since Day 1. Many noted the lack of air conditioning the rooms, which became even more of a focal point with a heat wave rolling through France.

Others found the tiny cardboard beds uncomfortable, making for an unpleasant stay.

Some suffered through the conditions while others made outside accommodations. A number of teams paid big bucks to stay off campus in private hotels or homes.

One Olympian just decided to sleep in the park.

Food was also an issue as athletes said meals were bland and unseasoned – a problem Simone Biles chalked up to a push for healthier options to be available on-site in the dining halls.

With all of that being said, most who stayed in the Olympic Village are happy to be going home!

“Hallelujah,” said Lina Nielsen after eating in the cafeteria for the final time in Paris.

Nielsen actually enjoyed the amenities that came along with life in the Olympic Village, but the food was apparently not up to her liking.

Team Jamaica high jumper Romaine Beckford was eager to leave Paris, too, posting a video from the airport to his TikTok account.

“Miss Paris?” a caption read. “Who? Not me!”

This year’s Summer Games brought much entertainment as the world watched Team USA land the top spot in the medal count. While Olympians were proud to represent their countries on the highest athletic stage, they don’t seem all that sad to leave France’s capital city.
