British sprinter Lina Nielsen is disputing claims of poor living conditions at the Olympic Village in Paris. In fact, the puzzled competitor wants to know why everyone is leaving.
Nielsen took to TikTok, as many Olympians have at the Games, to document her experience thus far. She’s enjoying her stay to the fullest!
Criticisms of both food and housing have flooded social media as athletes give their followers an inside look at the village.
Many have been harsh in their opinion of the food, whether that be for its blandness or for a lack of staple items altogether.
LSU gymnast Aleah Finnegan ripped the dining hall meals for being unseasoned, perhaps now spoiled after living in Baton Rouge. Charleston native Raven Saunders has echoed those sentiments.
Simone Biles did her best to explain why the food is so underwhelming while speaking to reporters this week.
“In the village, it’s not proper French cuisine, like you guys might be eating because you guys are outside the village. So, for the athletes, it’s a little bit healthier.”
Those not complaining about their meals have taken issue with the housing – whether that be for their rooms’ lack of air conditioning with a heat wave rolling through Paris or for the (un)comfortability of their cardboard beds.
Despite the reported issues, there are some making the most of the situation – and dare I say, enjoying the stay!
Lina Nielsen loves the Olympic Village.
She posted a video on TikTok jabbing at those athletes opting to leave the village quickly after competition. She wants to stay as long as possible!

“Why would you wanna leave the village when we’ve got a pub and a shop?” Nielsen asks in the video, “… and a nail and hair salon,” the caption continued.
She loves the amenities!
Nielsen is making the most of her stay in Paris, and she’s not letting others’ complaints ruin it.
Lina will soon be running with her twin sister Lavai for Team Great Britain in the 4 x 400m relay. Until then, she’ll continue to explore everything the Olympic Village has to offer!
