Azzi Fudd is dating Paige Bueckers. Not only are they in a personal romantic relationship, they also happen to be former teammates at UConn and new teammates in the WNBA.
The Dallas Wings will not allow reporters to ask questions about their romance!
A media relations director for the WNBA organization stepped in to prevent this line of questioning at the introductory press conference on Thursday. He or she did not provide a reason for the refusal.
Azzi Fudd is dating Paige Bueckers.
Bueckers, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year and No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, arrived to the University of Connecticut in 2020. She personally recruited Fudd to play for the Huskies in 2021.
The rest is history.
They played four seasons of college basketball together and won a national title in 2024-25. There has long been speculation that these two student-athletes were involved with each other off of the court.
Paige Bueckers stayed with Azzi Fudd and her family during quarantine, which led to this telling moment:
However, they did not go public until last year. Fudd hard launched their relationship on Instagram by wearing a very specific necklace and using a very specific phone case. They were later spotted holding hands at one of Bueckers’ games in July. #Pazzi was officially confirmed at the WNBA All-Star Game.
Fast forward to Monday night. The Dallas Wings held the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft for the second year in a row. They selected Paige Buckers in 2025. They selected Azzi Fudd in 2026.
It made perfect sense to reunite the two former UConn teammates, who won a national championship together. Fudd compliments Bueckers well in the backcourt and they already proved to be a winning duo. Bueckers is an elite shot creator. Fudd is an elite finisher.
Of course, these two also share a special bond in terms of their on- and off-court partnership. It was a no-brainer for the Wings to make the pick.
No questions about the Dallas Wings’ newest couple!
It has been known for awhile that Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd are dating. If you knew, you knew. If you didn’t know, they made it official more than eight months ago. It’s not a secret.
Plus, there are more than a few couples in the WNBA. And from a strictly basketball standpoint, they already proved to be an impressive duo at UConn.
Perhaps that is the reason for the lack of discussion about their relationship. Very little has been made of the fact that they are dating. In fact, Sports Illustrated writer Jeff Pearlman believes the WNBA specifically instructing journalists not to talk about #Pazzi. He might be on to something.
A reporter tried to ask Fudd about her relationship with Bueckers at her introductory press conference on Thursday. A representative for the Dallas Wings shut him down.

That specific line of questioning was not allowed at the introductory press conference. It will be interesting to see whether that policy remains in place throughout the regular season. If that is the case, why? Did the team not expect this to be a prominent storyline when it made its No. 1 pick?
