NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero also reported Thursday that Jimmy Haslam offered to fly to Mayfield’s hometown of Austin, Tex. to try to mend the fences, but that Mayfield declined the offer. He said Mayfield’s camp believes the dalliance with Watson, the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, undermined Mayfield’s leadership ability and made his return untenable. The visit with Watson came with Mayfield at home in Austin, Tex. rehabbing from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left non-throwing shoulder.
As of now, the Browns say they will not honor Mayfield’s trade request and plan to have him play QB for them next season.
The #Browns have already told Baker Mayfield that they will not accommodate his trade request, per multiple reports. It's a stand off.
