Chicago Bears first-round pick, offensive tackle Darnell Wright, left his teammates and coaching staff astounded after crushing the team’s conditioning test.

What’s more impressive is that Wright achieved this feat after mistakenly training for the wide receiver version of the test, which is known for being “longer and faster.”

According to NBCS’s Adam Hoge, Bears General Manager Ryan Poles lauded the 330-pound lineman’s work ethic during the offseason, stating that Wright “busted his butt” to get ready for training camp.

The dedication improved Wrights’ fitness, which has clearly paid off as he managed to shed weight and body fat in preparation for the grueling conditioning test.

The Bears’ players were provided with written guidelines detailing the expectations they needed to meet to pass their respective conditioning tests. Unfortunately, as Wright worked out on his own to get in shape, he mistakenly focused on the wide receiver test.

While both linemen and receivers are required to complete a series of sprints, the receivers’ version demands a higher level of speed and endurance.

The talented rookie admitted his oversight, saying, “I was looking at the wide receivers’ running portion of the workout, so I was doing theirs. So then I came back and obviously we have different [tests], so.” Despite the mix-up, his dedication and hard work paid dividends.

Wright managed to drop an impressive 16 pounds of fat during his training regimen, significantly improving his agility and overall performance.

For a rookie to go above and beyond the required preparation and excel in the conditioning test left a positive impression on the team.
