Philly Scapegoat Tobias Harris Goes Out With A Goose Egg In Final Sixers Game

The Philadelphia Sixers indirectly chose to pay small forward Tobias Harris and former point guard Ben Simmons  over Jimmy Butler in the 2019 NBA offseason. Since, he’s been a villain for Philadelphia 76ers fans.

I think everyone agrees that Tobias Harris has significantly underperformed his 5-year, $180 million deal in his time in Philadelphia. At the same time, the Sixers, once considered as an inevitable future championship team, has not been able to get past the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Thursday night, the Sixers hosted game 6 against the New York Knicks after staving off elimination in miracle fashion in game 5 at Madison Square Garden. In that game, Harris had 19 points and 8 rebounds and redeemed himself a little bit with Sixers fans.

But, game 6 was not the same. The Knicks topped the 76ers, 118-115, in a wild game that saw both teams go on monster runs and both teams refusing to quit.  The Sixers could’ve used a good game from Tobias Harris. What they got was a clunker of epic proportions.

Harris had 0 points in 29 minutes on 0-2 shooting to go along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. 29 minutes with zero points is absolutely stunning.  Sixers fans are livid

If Harris played up to even half of that contract, the Sixers probably win the series. It was an incredibly close series, as the Knicks ended up outscoring the Sixers by one point over the six games. Ultimately Harris played like a replacement-level player for much of the series, and the Sixers are off to Cancun.
