Cincinnati Bengals fans hold their breath as star quarterback Joe Burrow’s season hangs in the balance.

According to NFL Insider Jonathan Jones on CBS, Burrow’s recent calf injury has taken a turn, and there’s a possibility he may be placed on Injured Reserve.

Burrow, who initially sustained the injury during Training Camp, re-aggravated it on Week 2 against the Ravens, leaving his availability for Week 3, a Monday Night Football game against the Rams, in doubt.

The Bengals find themselves in a tough spot with a winless 0-2 record to start the season. However, it’s worth noting that last season, they also began 0-2 but managed to turn their fortunes around, eventually making it to the AFC Championship game.

In the event that Burrow is sidelined, backup Jake Browning will step into the spotlight. They recently signed veteran, A. J. McCarron, will serve as the backup, adding depth to a Bengals team looking to weather the storm and keep their playoff aspirations alive.
