Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has voiced his desire for the team to take more deep shots down the field in an effort to rejuvenate their 2023 season.

Speaking to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Chase emphasized the need for more aggressive plays in the team’s offensive strategy.

(Gotta get) some go routes in there − just some downfield shots so that we can come back to anything else underneath,” Chase stated.

“We really haven’t taken that many shots downfield. If you look at the last two games, you don’t really see that many shots downfield. We gotta take more shots downfield. That’s why we have deep-threat guys. Take a chance.”

The Bengals, initially considered Super Bowl favorites at the start of the season, find themselves in a challenging position with an 0-2 record to open the season.

This is a significant departure from their previous success, which saw them competing in the AFC Championship in back-to-back seasons. Although the team did start 0-2 last season.

Chase, who was a pivotal part of the Bengals’ offense in previous seasons, has struggled to make an impact this year, amassing only 10 catches for 70 yards in the first two games of the season.

Chase’s frustration is evident, and he believes that a more aggressive offensive approach, including deep throws, is necessary to reverse the team’s fortunes.

The Bengals and their coaching staff will likely need to evaluate their offensive strategy and consider incorporating more downfield shots to utilize the talents of Ja’Marr Chase and other the players on the roster.

The upcoming game against the Rams will be crucial in determining whether these adjustments can help turn the team’s season around.
