Bengals RB Chase Brown Has Lighthearted Response To Getting Drink Spilled On Him By Fan

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown had the best performance of his young NFL career last Sunday.

Brown, a former star at Illinois, rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries in a 34-24 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

But the big day ended with a bit of a (literal) damper after a fan appeared to pour their drink on Brown as he was exiting the stadium.

Fan Who Spilled Drink On Bengals RB Chase Brown Was Trying To Catch Gloves

The NFL investigated the incident this week and determined that the spilled drink was actually the result of an accident.

“The league’s review of the matter determined that portions of a drink were accidentally spilled on the Cincinnati player as Bengals fans attempted to catch the gloves he tossed to them,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN.

Brown hardly reacted to the spilled drink, and on Thursday responded to news that the incident was an accident.

“It would suck if people are doing stuff with intent,” Brown told ESPN. “Honestly happier it’s a Bengals fan, too. I’m just glad they got the gloves at the end of the day.”

Perhaps notably, Brown hails from London, Ontario, Canada. Because that was the most polite response I’ve ever seen to having a drink pour on your head.

Although he did tell ESPN that the incident might change the way that he hands out gear in the future.

“Maybe I got to hand it up now,” he said with a smile. “I’m not going to throw it up anymore.”

That’s probably for the best, since it’s clear NFL fans don’t know how to act.
