The Atlanta Falcons won an exciting overtime game against the division rival Bucs on Thursday with an improbable comeback effort. QB Kirk Cousins was a big reason why!

The passer threw for a game-high 509 yards, finding Falcons receivers on four touchdown connections in the 36-30 victory.

His final pass ended up being the difference maker!

Atlanta trailed by three points late in the fourth quarter with Tampa Bay controlling the ball. A huge defensive stop allowed the Falcons to regain possession, giving Cousins and Co. one last chance at fireworks.

The quarterback successfully positioned his team in field goal range where kicker Younghoe Koo tied the game up. After winning the overtime coin flip, the offense would march down the field for the game-winning score.

Kirk Cousins found reserve wideout KhaDarel Hodge on a 45-yard catch and run to secure the win.

The celebration soon erupted in the Falcons’ locker room.

On Friday, Cousins broke down that final play while appearing on the Dan Patrick Show. He did so from an, oh, so fitting location.

Kirk Cousins continued his celebration with breakfast at Waffle House!

The dining establishment is a staple in the Southeast, and it fit Cousins’ “suburban dad” persona to a T. What better way to keep the good times rolling?!

He broke down the winning play on the air, noting that it wasn’t necessarily the look they wanted. Still, it worked to perfection!

“Drake [London] got hurt on the play before and had to come out,” he recalled. “KhaDarel had been coming in all game long when Drake needed a blow. He subbed in like he had been throughout the game.

“I just go out and read the play, and it was man coverage. KhaDarel’s route vs. man coverage is not a winning route, but the corner was off enough that I thought, ‘You know what, against my better judgement, I’m just going to drive this ball into him and not progress.’

“It was tight, but we found a way to complete it. From there, it was just individual effort.”

With the win, the Falcons moved to 3-2 and into a first-place tie with the Bucs atop the NFC South standings.
