USC officials released a statement after the school was roasted for its embarrassing turnout at its home opener.

On Saturday, the USC Trojans faced off against San Jose State for their first home game of the season, and no one showed up to support them at the LA Coliseum,

“This is why nobody takes USC’s fanbase seriously . The few that actually care run their mouths on social Media 24/7 but when it comes time to actually physically show up and support the team, the stadium is empty. Embarrassing. The SC fan base isn’t even real, the LA way,” commented one fan on social media.

Some fans defended the low turnout by noting how hot it was outside.

On Sunday, USC released a statement regarding the low turnout for the game.

“We understand the factors that impacted Saturday’s attendance,” the statement read. “We have high expectations and a premier home schedule this season, and we know the competitive advantage an electric Coliseum atmosphere can provide our program. We thank our fans who showed up Saturday and look forward to seeing increased attendance the rest of the season.”
