TikToker Destinee has gone viral after sharing her shock over a recent Delta Airlines' flight to Mexico cost.
When you fly with Delta, you expect a certain experience. But does that really justify its higher costs?
While there are ways to beat the system—like booking flights on certain days, air travel is a lot more expensive than it used to be. And TikToker Destinee (@thatgirlnamedes_) has had enough.
In the video, which has garnered 163,500 views, Destinee spoke to the camera, saying, “And Delta Delta Air Lines must be ready to go out of business, because why the f— is a flight to Mexico more than $1,000?”
“$1,000?!” she repeated. “Spirit will f—— never.”

Comment responses were mixed.
“Y’all….if y’all this worried about the prices for the flights u shouldn’t even go no shade,” one said. “Flights are actually most times the CHEAPEST part of a vacation.”
“As a Delta FA that commutes to base, these flights be FULL FULL” a second shared. “They ain’t going nowhere babe.”
And a fourth chimed in, “Lady, it’s the Delta experience…and that’s why SPIRIT isn’t around…”
Meanwhile, a fifth agreed with the TikToker.
“I hate the notion that ‘then you can’t afford it,'” they said. “I’ve been flying Delta my entire life and lately they’ve been trying it. I can also still afford to fly them while simultaneously complaining.”
Why Are Delta Flights So Expensive?
Delta has had high prices all summer. Recent federal data suggests that, on a broader level, flights in May were 26% higher than the year before. This spike in pricing has been attributed to things like the surge of fuel costs in April, the ongoing war in Iran, and the summer period generally being the most expensive time of year to fly.
Still, in a June interview with Fox Business, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian defended the airline’s higher prices.
“People ask me all the time, ‘What’s happening with prices?'” he said. “Prices will come down when we can fly more, when there’s more supply, it’s a supply and demand. Right now we’re kind of logjammed.”
He then cited air traffic control as a factor, saying, “There’s not a lot of supply we can bring in because the air traffic control system is congested. As you open up the skies, and you bring more flow, that’s going to help bring pricing down and enable us to bring more people to more places.”
Bastian went on to say that, due to rising fuel costs, Delta “had no choice” but to increase prices.
Later in July, the CEO said that prices will remain high despite falling fuel prices because of high operation costs.
