‘I’ve Already Saved $230’: Former Flight Attendant Exposes The Best Days To Book Your Flight. Does It Actually Work?

We’d all rather be catching flights rather than catching feelings, but let’s face it—air travel is expensive. There are plenty of urban myths about the best days and times to book flights, with insiders often going viral for sharing the tricks of the trade.

Airport life hacks are especially popular on TikTok, whether it be from a frequent traveler’s perspective or, as is the case with @aub.flighthacks, the perspective of a former flight attendant.

She begins the viral video, which has garnered 1.1 million views, by explaining that she was a flight attendant for three years.

The creator then goes on to share her three biggest tips about booking flights.

Firstly, she advises viewers to book flights on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday late at night or in the early hours of the morning. Secondly, she recommends using Incognito mode or a VPN, as she notes how one’s location could inflate flight prices.

Her third and final tip is for viewers to email JetBack your flight confirmation information. She claims the service will then track the exact flight, search for price changes, and refund you the difference. It is worth noting that on her Instagram account, @aub.flighthacks has disclosed that she’s a JetBack partner. How Did Commenters React?

Some commenters backed these tips.

“Tuesday around 2am are honestly the cheapest flights I’ve ever found,” one wrote.

“Just checked with my VPN,” a second shared. “$200-$300 differences holy crap.”

A third added, “Yea I booked a business class flight at 3:00 am for $700 .”

Others were a little more skeptical.

“So…. why stay up all night for a deal if JetBack is supposed to do exactly that for you post buying?” a fourth asked.

“But what’s JetBack’s incentive for refunding you?” a fifth added. “That just feels sus to me.”

Numerous commenters also highlighted how JetBack cost $99+ a year.

What Is JetBack?

JetBack is a flight savings app that was first launched in 2025. According to a press release, it works by monitoring your flights and filing credit claims on your behalf when prices drop.

“Most major U.S. airlines offer credits when prices fall after purchase. But travelers rarely claim them because the process is opaque and time-consuming,” the release reads. “JetBack changes that.”

Brian Dubno, the founder of JetBack, added: “Our users just forward their flight confirmation emails, and we take care of the rest. If the airline owes you money, we’ll make sure you get it.”

Per the Points Guy, many airlines do indeed offer a refund or credit if the price of the flight drops after booking, but this all varies and depends on the specific airline’s policy and the type of ticket you ordered. Some air packages might not be eligible.

Is It True That Booking Flights On Certain Dates And Times Is Cheaper?

By and large, it looks like booking flights on days like Tuesdays doesn’t automatically give you a better deal. Scott Keyes, the founder of the flight subscription service Going told CNBC Select that people should view flight ticket fares like the volatility of the stock market. As the outlet notes, while the stock market may have a date where it performs better, that doesn’t mean it will perform well on that date again.

Instead of relying on specific days, Keyes advises flyers to look for the ‘Goldilocks window,’ which refers to a period of time where cheap flights are most likely to pop up. “If it’s an off-peak season—not the middle of summer, Christmas, or New Year’s—then booking about one to three months in advance is typically when cheap flights have the highest likelihood of popping up,” he explained. “When you’re talking about international travel, two to eight months in advance.”

If you need to travel during peak season, the founder says you should book 3-7 months in advance for domestic flights and 4-10 months for international ones.
