Delta Flight Attendant Has Message For Customers Who Bring Them Snacks: ‘Let Us Know Where Your Seat Number Is’

The work flight attendants do often go under the radar.

Flight attendants are responsible for passenger safety while also catering to their needs for hours on end. While this is usually overlooked, some passengers do acknowledge their hard work with words of gratitude and gifts.

And according to one Delta Air Lines flight attendant, these kind gestures don’t go unnoticed.

Teresa (@girtbarqueen), who has worked as a Delta flight attendant for 35 years, starts her video, saying, “This is a PSA for anybody bringing treats to your flight attendant: We love it; we appreciate it. It’s never expected.”

But she does have a request for passengers who choose to give them gifts.

“If there’s any possible way you can take an ink pen, preferably a Sharpie, and write on whatever that item is, your seat number. We want to come thank you,” she says. “Never expected, always loved.”

The content creator drives the point home in her caption, “We love being appreciated and recognized. Help us thank you appropriately.”

‘My Gift Doesn’t Come with Expectations’

Teresa’s public service announcement garnered over 136,000 views. Despite her desire to repay kind samaritans’ generosity, many preferred to remain unknown.

“The reason I don’t is because my gift doesn’t come with expectations of anything. I just like to make your day a little better,” one viewer commented.

“I never put my seat number because I like to give an anonymous gift and don’t really want a thank you. We just appreciate you all,” a second echoed.

“I don’t do it for any special attention though. A simple thank you after I hand it to you is all that’s necessary!” a third agreed.

Moreover, those who bring gifts for their flight attendants shared what their go-tos are.

“I always travel with Starbucks cards and thank you notes. You never know when somebody will change your day or you just wanna make somebody else’s day,” one commenter revealed.

“I gave $25 Dunkin gift cards to all the flight attendants and 5 mins before we took off they moved me to 1st. I tried to say no but they weren’t having it. best flight ever,” a second recalled.

Appropriate Flight Attendant Gifts

If you want to show your appreciation to your flight attendant, there are a few rules of the road.

For starters, make sure you have enough goodies for all the flight attendants aboard. The number of seats on an airplane determines how many flight attendants there are. As a rule of thumb, there is one flight attendant per 50 passengers.

Reader’s Digest recommends bringing sealed, store-bought gifts like chocolate, candy, or a coffee gift card.

This topic landed in a r/flightattendants subreddit last year. Cabin crew members added that “anything local from the airport,” like “hand sanitizer,” “chapstick,” and “individually wrapped candies” is appreciated. Even a “thoughtful thank you note” and “simple and genuine thank you” suffices.

On the other hand, homemade baked goods are a no-go for safety and sanitary reasons.
