Big Dom has become one of the most unique characters in the NFL by seemingly always finding a way to linger in the background of television broadcast. “Character” is also the perfect word to describe the Philadelphia Eagles fixer, as that’s the exact sort of display he routinely puts on.
It should be noted that my last name is literally Italiano, so this isn’t me taking a potshot at someone else’s culture, but rather, a criticism of how “Big Dom” has essentially turned himself into a caricature of Italian Americans, particularly those from New Jersey (like myself).
“Big Dom”, real name Domenico DiSandro, is essentially JK Rowling’s idea of an Italian-American. If he were pitched as a character on The Sopranos, he’d be dismissed in the writers’ room for being too cliche.
He’s got the matching sweatsuits, the Italian flag adorned on his Eagles hats and shirts, Kangol hats, gold bracelets, rings, and chains (one of which bares the Italian horn, and the other the literal outline of Italy), and a sleeve tattoo that, while I cannot 100% confirm, am almost positive it features some sort of reference to the Church.

DiSandro’s affinity for constantly reminding everyone of his heritage isn’t limited to his wardrobe, though, as local Philadelphia content creator Eric Lordie recently shared a photo of Big Dom’s office at the Eagle facility, which not only says “Big Dom” on the name plate but also features an Italian flag.

With Birds head coach Nick Sirianni entering the season on the hot seat given the Eagles’ disappointing 2025 campaign — despite winning the NFC East title for the second straight year, the first time the division had a repeat champion since 2004 — that means Big Dom’s job security with the franchise is on thin ice, too.
