This season, the Bills will officially relocate to the new Highmark Stadium following the completion of a $2.2 billion project that took three years to complete. Fans who flock there will be treated to a rebooted gameday experience, which seemingly includes a massive folding table that serves as a nod to a beloved (and banned) tradition.
Every NFL fanbase takes pride in its ability to tailgate, and the members of the faithful legion known as “Bills Mafia” have a reputation for going particularly hard before games.
If you’ve ever attended a game in Buffalo, you’ve likely witnessed Labatt Blue flowing like the water of Niagara Falls while making your way through a throng of diehards who are known for taking shots out of a bowling ball and covering a guy named “Pinto Ron” with ketchup and mustard before making their way into the stadium.
However, you can’t talk about Bills Mafia without discussing a relatively new tradition that has become a staple of Bills games over the past decade or so: jumping through folding tables.
Countless tables have been sacrificed to the football gods since that method of destruction became all the rage in the mid-2010s, and while the practice is technically banned outside the team’s stadium, that has not stopped plenty of people from partaking.
It’s subsequently a bit hard to believe the franchise would go out of its way to acknowledge that pastime, but many Bills fans are convinced that’s the case after coming across a video that was purportedly filmed inside Buffalo’s new home.
A video of a giant broken folding table that was seemingly installed in the new Highmark Stadium has Bills fans amped up
The Bills played at War Memorial Stadium in the heart of Buffalo when they kicked off their inaugural season in 1960, and in 1973, they relocated to a new venue in the suburb of Orchard Park that remained their home until last year.
Construction on the new Highmark Stadium (which is located right next to the old one) began in 2023, and Bills fans will get to experience it for the first time during a preseason showdown with the Panthers on August 15th (it will host its first regular season game when the Lions come to town on September 17th).
The building will be able to accommodate up to 63,000 spectators and features plenty of upgrades designed to enhance the gameday experience. Based on a video that started making the rounds this week, that would appear to include a giant broken folding table that’s been installed in the lower concourse.

At first glance, there’s nothing that suggests that video is the work of artificial intelligence, but I should note I was unable to find any other information that confirms the veracity of the clip.
I combed through a number of videos featuring people who got the chance to tour the stadium in recent months ahead of its opening, and while the fact that none of them mentioned that feature does seem like a potential red flag, it may be a new addition as crews continue to put the finishing touches on the venue ahead of its grand opening.
I’ll be the first person to admit I got got if this ends up being fake, but I want to believe.
