Brett Favre Tweets About Patriotism And It Probably Didn’t Go How He Thought It Would

Brett Favre is not having the best week.

First, he lost his appeal to have his defamation lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe reinstated.

Then he posted a message on X (Twitter) about people being unpatriotic and, well, it probably didn’t go the way he thought it would.

“If you’re born in the USA or an American citizen and you put other countries above us, then that’s unpatriotic. That’s it,” Brett Favre wrote on X (Twitter), along with three American flag emojis.

Apparently, Brett Favre forgot how X (Twitter) works because thousands of people were quick to comment, and they weren’t very many positive comments either.

Former SportsCenter anchor Keith Olbermann was one of the people who were quick to respond to Favre’s statement about America.

“Hey are your CTE checkups up to date? How’d your bank account audit [go]?” Olbermann wrote.

“I played football for a few years… I made a statement being pro-American… Didn’t you cover football for a year or two?… What happened to that?” Brett Favre replied back.

While Keith Olbermann isn’t the most sympathetic person when it comes to a comparison between him and Brett Favre (they truly deserve each other), his comment about an audit certainly lit a fire under hundreds of people who are still angry about that whole Mississippi welfare funds scandal that the ole gunslinger has been caught up in since 2021.

“If you are a wealthy man that steals money that was supposed to go to the poorest people in the community that makes you a POS welfare thief that doesn’t give a damn about their fellow Americans and that is really damn anti American. You don’t even have a clue what patriotism is,” one heavily re-tweeted comment addressing Favre’s post read.

“That’s right, real Patriots like yourself steal welfare money!” another person wrote, echoing hundreds more to follow.

Like this one… “Okay but what if you are born in the USA or are an American citizen but then you steal Medicaid money.”

And on and on it went

“Is it unpatriotic to steal money from poor people?”

“Have you stolen any more money lately?”

“You know what’s unpatriotic? Stealing 1 mll million dollars in welfare funds from people in one of the poorest states.”

Even actor Billy Baldwin (remember him?) got in on the fun, writing, “Define ‘putting other countries above us’ please.”

That one must have resonated with Brett Favre because he would go on to write in a separate post, “Don’t get why some Americans are against America.

“I see flags from other countries being flown on cars, trucks and houses. Anyone else wonder why? I don’t expect 🇺🇸 flying when I travel overseas, but it’s done on the daily here.”

“on the daily…”
