Head coaching rumors are humming loudly as the Denver Broncos are set to hire a new candidate. However, many are still pondering the future after this disappointing season.

Especially considering how bad Russell Wilson has been this year. Fans aren’t sure what the club is going to do, but the front office reveals their optimistic plans for the veteran quarterback.

According to Kevin Patra, the Broncos are not going to give up on Russell Wilson. Of course, Denver is financially tied with him until at least 2025. Regardless, the front office is making it clear they’re not going to give up on their veteran quarterback. “He knows he can play better, we know he can play better, and we know he will do the right work in the offseason to be ready for next year.”

The Broncos were pegged as a potential Super Bowl winner after trading for Russell Wilson, to begin with. However, he’s been less than average since Week 1. It’s odd to see a star quarterback fall off the cliff like that. For that reason, Denver is remaining optimistic about their future with Wilson commanding the huddle.

Although everyone is wondering how to “fix” Wilson, the Broncos assure that he’s not the only reason they’re searching for a new head coach, per Patra. General Manager George Paton claims, “I don’t think we made a coaching move based on Russ. That wasn’t what it [was] all about. That’s not why we’re getting a new coach, to turn around Russ, it’s about the entire organization. It’s about the entire football team. It’s just not one player. It’s not whether Russ is fixable or not. We do believe he is. We do.”

At least the organization is remaining optimistic. NFL fans seem to think the Broncos are a long way from righting the ship. Even so, finding the right head coach could solve a ton of problems. We’ll see who they end up hiring. For now, everything is up in the air for this franchise.
